Our Montessori Classroom
Primary Montessori at LES means that we have students enrolled in 4K and 5K learning together in the same classroom. Throughout the school year students are given opportunities to learn skills such as Grace and Courtesy (manners/social skills), Care of Self (how to dress and manage yourself), Care of Environment (taking care of your surroundings), all while being introduced to academic subjects such as Language, Writing, Math, Science, Geography, Social Studies, Sensorial, and Geometry.
We use our Montessori Curriculum, state standards, and state testing to guide instruction to help your child. In our classroom students are taught individually or in a small group. We come together daily to have two-whole group lessons. Individual and small group lessons are completed in three steps. First, students are introduced to a lesson by the teacher or another student, then they are given time in class to practice that lesson while the teacher observes the child without interfering, finally once the teacher has observed that the child has mastered the lesson, we are ready to move forward onto the next lesson. When necessary I will step in and help guide the student to complete the lesson correctly, otherwise the majority of our classroom materials are set up to self correct.
